CHRIST IS RISEN!

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

To all faithful Parishioners of our St. Archangel Michael Serbian Orthodox Church, we greet you on this most joyful Christian feast of the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ with faith and anticipation for the resurrection of the whole world from these days of temptation. May the Paschal holidays be to everyone for their salvation and spiritual growth, so that we may in Christian love, ourselves witness the Risen Lord Jesus Christ. We greet you with our traditional Easter greeting:

Christ is Risen – Indeed He is Risen!
Hristos Voskrese – Vaistinu Voskrese!

I know that this is a rather difficult time that is affecting everyone in the world, but I encourage you during this time to stay strong in your faith and personal relationship with God through prayer, reading of Holy Scripture, your fasting observances and your loving service to your family. Remember St. Paul's words to the Colossians, "let the peace of Christ control your hearts," and if there is any way that we can help you or you would like us to pray for you for any need, please reach out to us through e-mail This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or call our parish office at 408-867-4876 and leave a message.

In Risen Lord yours,
Fr. Slobodan

It is with a heavy heart that we inform you, our parishioners, that the cancellation of all parish gatherings and services will extend through Easter Sunday and still indefinitely into Bright Week and beyond. Specifically, all celebrations of Holy Week - including Palm Sunday, Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday and Easter Sunday - must take place without the physical presence of a congregation and cannot be rescheduled or postponed. We will have LIVE stream (link will be forwarded to you later), so that you can listen to the Word of God and unite with one another in prayer from home.

As we approach Holy Week, it might be especially hard for us Orthodox Christians to accept some of these restrictions suddenly placed on our rich, inherently communal activities of joint prayer and solemn observation, leading into the resurrectional joyous celebration. However, mankind has rebounded from much greater trials and tribulations, and there should be no doubt that - with God's help and with our fervent prayers and good works - this shall happen again. In this spirit, you are invited to make an Easter donation in support of the Church by clicking below.

UPDATE TO ALL CLERGY AND FAITHFUL REGARDING THE CORONAVIRUS, COVID-19

As America faces this unprecedented global Coronavirus, Covid-19, and committed to providing guidance during this crisis and fulfilling our common duty to ensure the safety of everyone, we are providing this update to our clergy.

Bishop Maxim sends special coronavirus message April 8, 2020

A person can never stand still at any point. Every spiritual attainment is the beginning of a new journey. Life is one continuous progress. And when you attain to knowledge and virtue, you have to leave, to go beyond these attainments. You cannot get drunk if you do not drink wine. You cannot catch fire if you do not approach the fire and become wholly incandescent. The presence of the Spirit, "who neither begins nor ceases," is evident in the expression of the face. It is the whole psychosomatic substance of man, full of an awe born of gratitude and timidity before the inexplicable condescension of God who becomes man. It suffers. "And through suffering, what is mortal puts on the majesty of incorruption." (Elder Vasileios of Iveron)
