Bishop Maxim visited the South Bay Area

Bishop Maxim, visited on Sunday, June 13th the Holy Archangel Michael parish in Saratoga, CA. His Grace was welcomed by the parishioners and the beautiful voices of the parish choir and served the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy in the spacious church hall. The Saratoga parish is serving in the church hall during the pandemic in order to keep the attendees safe. Very Rev. Stavrophor Vasilije Cvijanovic from Moraga as the newly appointed Dean of the San Francisco Deanery and V. Rev. Vidoslav Vujasin concelebrated together with His Grace.

Our Hierarch Bishop Maxim gave an inspiring sermon about the Holy Fathers of the First Ecumenical council who protected the church with their definition of faith. Further, he explained the Gospel reading where Christ is addressing his Heavenly Father and we learned how Christ relates to His Father and considers everything as a gift of His Father. Christ and the Father are affirming each other in eternal unity. Christ is the One who with His presence protects the entire planet and is the guarantee of our life. His Grace also surprised the Saratoga parish with an oversized icon of Christ the Creator painted by Fr. Stamatis Skliris and His Grace himself.

At this occasion, His Grace introduced the newly appointed parish priest V. Rev. Protopresbyter Vidoslav Vujasin who succeeded Protopresbyter Stavrophor Slobodan Jovic who retired in May. His Grace thanked the faithful parishioners for their attendance, the Choir and choir director Lazar Mihajlovich for their singing, and the altar boys Milan and Milos for their service.

After the service, the parish gathered outside for a delicious lunch which was sponsored by Marko and Zana Duchich in memory of their beloved parents.
